Sruti Sarathy (www.srutisarathy.com) is a versatile Carnatic violinist, singer, and composer based in Chennai and in the Bay Area. Sruti's music brings out the voice of the Indian violin in a contemporary, imaginative, and socially conscious way. A graduate of Stanford University and a Fulbright Scholar, Sruti has received accolades both in India and in the United States for her artistry. She collaborates with Carnatic musicians and performs in festivals across the world. She often takes the role of composer-performer for dance and theater works. She is the creator of Sound Thoughts, a project exploring resonances between music and literature. She is also a co-founding member of the Carnatic Music Justice Project.
In this Carnatic music performance, violinist and singer Sruti Sarathy shares a traditional musical form of India.
